Kane after victory against Chelsea: "I'm pretty excited"

Thanks to a 3-1 win against Chelsea, Bayern Munich maintained their clean sheet after their sixth competitive match of the 2025/26 season. And they were particularly pleased with the way it went.

Vincent Kompany appeared relaxed, though by no means euphoric. "We knew a lot had to go right to win today. The boys fulfilled their mission, but also showed enthusiasm for the game. Our concentration was very good. It was a very solid performance," the Bayern coach explained to DAZN after the prestigious victory .

The players, like Konrad Laimer , were also satisfied. The fact that the victory against the newly crowned Club World Champions was achieved was all the more pleasing: "We defended with concentration and showed what we've been playing for a year against such an opponent," said the Austrian. "With intensity, you can solve a lot of problems, and we showed that today. It's fun to play football with this team," the veteran continued.

"Don't press to get the ball"

Kompany also particularly liked the pressing, explaining this in particular with reference to the goal that made it 2-0, which resulted directly from a Chelsea error caused by early disruption: "We want to press because we want to score goals, not to get the ball. That's happened seven or eight times since pre-season," the Belgian said happily.

Harry Kane , who scored two of Munich's three goals, expressed a similar sentiment. "That was a top performance from us against a tough opponent, the club world champions." Things had actually been going well in the first half, but then, "unfortunately, we conceded the goal a little too quickly," said the Englishman.

Kane's enthusiasm and Kompany's praise

Then came the second half: "We came out of the break strong, created chances. That's the way we want to go. Possession was important, as was supporting each other. That's why they tired more as the game went on and spaces opened up. It was a tough, physical game, but I'm pretty pleased," said Kane.

In addition to Kane, Michael Olise also delivered another strong performance. The coach sees the 23-year-old on his way to becoming a truly great player. "Players like Michael simply have this talent. Last season, he may not have been a great player because it was his first year. But to become a great player, he has to repeat that for many years. And this year, he's doing that under pressure. So far, he's doing that. So he's on the right track."
